The exhibition is part of “river to river 2022” in Maebashi, Gunma, and is held at two venues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For this exhibition, the artist has created works that cite the relationship between Japan and the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the main venue, ya-gins (venue number 4), a video work dedicated to the “Star-spangled banner” for the American soldiers (Allied Forces) who were sacrificed in the ground war in Okinawa at the end of the Pacific War.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the second venue, the Nyagins (venue number 2), an installation that considers the place of Japanese identity in the postwar period, is exhibited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I, without exception, was restricted in many ways due to the Corona disaster, but I feel that I have been able to reflect on my past and think about the roots of why I continue to be an artist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And if you don’t touch it, you don’t touch it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Things that seem to be buried in the distance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These are the things<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As an artist, I take responsibility by paying attention to them, chewing them over, and presenting them as works of art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I realized once again that taking such an attitude is what we should be doing now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
